Lone Star Thyme Whiskey Sour

The Lone Star Thyme Whiskey Sour is a refreshing and herbaceous cocktail that captures the essence of the open trail. Made with Balcones Texas Single Malt Whiskey, it delivers a complex, yet balanced flavor profile with the added aromatic notes of fresh thyme and Texas honey.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Balcones Texas Single Malt Whiskey
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz Texas honey syrup (see below for recipe)
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • Angostura bitters
  • Lemon twist and thyme sprig for garnish
  • Ice

Texas Honey Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup Texas honey
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions for Texas Honey Syrup:

  1. Combine the honey and water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved.
  3. Let it cool and store in a bottle or jar. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Instructions for the Lone Star Thyme Whiskey Sour:

  1. In a shaker, add the fresh thyme sprigs and Texas honey syrup.
  2. Muddle the thyme to release its aroma and flavor.
  3. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, and ice.
  4. Shake well until chilled.
  5. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
  6. Add a few dashes of Angostura bitters on top.
  7. Garnish with a lemon twist and a sprig of fresh thyme.
